  • Finish 7 by Spring

Hello there lovely! I’ve been gone from this blog for way too long. Reintroducing myself to the beauty communinity this might be a weird way to go about it as I’m starting with a project pan. A project pan if you didn’t know is a finite amount of time where you set out to hit pan or finish certain beauty products.

Within the project pan community there’s a challenge called Finish 7 by Spring. This is the one I’ll be doing. I choose this one as it’s a shorter timeframe, which I hope will manage to keep me motivated to downsize my collection. According to the world wide web the first day of spring is March 20th, which means that I have until then to finish all seven of my products!

    Finish 7 by spring!

Finish seven by spring! too faced, mac, smashbox and more

I’ve chosen products that I think I’ll be able to finish and make a lot of progress with in a short amount of time, just to give myself some momentum to keep going with this journey of mine.

    1. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW15
    2. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
    3. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent
    4. Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer in Milk Chocolate
    5. Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Aurora
    6. NYX Lip Liner in Nude Pink
    7. Revlon ColorBust Lip Butter in Smoothie

My motivation for doing a project pan is frankly that my makeup collection is way out of hand. It’s grown well beyond it’s limits, and now I’ve come to the point that I’m realizing that most of it will go bad before I get to use it up. That’s why I’m going on a no-buy makeup (well you know, unless there’s something I really need want) for now. I’m not really limiting myself all that much, as I will allow myself to buy something if I do crave it, but I’ll try my best to limit impulsive buys. My experience is that those end up in a drawer somewhere not being used anyway.

    Finish seven by spring!

Don’t get me wrong, I love makeup and I will continue to buy makeup, just not for the sake of just buying … I was in that place that I just wanted to grow my makeup collection and didn’t really care what was in it, I just wanted one of those big makeup collections that you see on YouTube. So honestly, this challenge is for me about starting to love makeup again, but for the right reasons – not just to have a huge collection for no perticular reason.

Also don’t worry when it comes to this influencing my reviews and such. I still have about 50 lipsticks to review, so there’s plenty of content to choose from. Are you currently doing a project pan? Please put the link below and I’ll check it out! XO

  • Sephora Cream Lip Stain review + swatches

Hello there lovely! Liquid lipsticks are certainly in the wind right now. Every brand out there is releasing new liquid lipsticks, although with different level of quality. The Sephora Cream Lip Stains is on the better half, and the only bad thing about them is that they don’t have a wider color range!

First thing first: the name is quite misleading, as I’d say it is indeed a liquid lipstick, and I don’t get why they called it a stain. They’re so easy to apply, and last for a very long time. Perfect for everyday life, when you’re too busy to apply a new layer every couple of hours.

My six shades are, from left to right: 01 Always Red, 03 Strawberry Kissed, 06 Pink Soufflé, 08 Whipped Blush, 09 Watermelom Slice and 13 Marvelous Mauve.

I originally only had three of these, that I had my mom get for me when she was at Sephora, but they were so good I had to get a few more shades once I got the chance! What is kind of unfair though is that all of the shades isn’t available in Europe. I recall wanting one of the darkest shade for last fall (14 Blackberry Sorbet), but unfortunately it turned out it was impossible to get a hold of.

I honestly don’t know which one is my favorite anymore! At first I loved Marvelous Mauve more than anything, then it was Whipped Blush which is the brightest shade ever – then it was Strawberry Kissed which was the most beautiful pinkish red on my lips, and now just recently I fell in love with Always Red!

So let’s do a rundown for each shade, shall we?

01 Always Red: Your classic red.
03 Strawberry Kissed: Pinkish red. It really depends on the light if it’s more on the pink or red side of things. Either way, it’s gorgeous.
06 Pink Soufflé: Just pink. I don’t feel like this one is anything special, just your everyday kind of shade.
08 Whipped Blush: Oh where do I begin with you! It’s a bright fuchsia, which sure brings attention to your lips. It can easily be used to make a statement.
09 Watermelom Slice: It’s more of a pink coral shade if anything. It may be a bit too yellow based and warm toned for my fair cool complexion.
13 Marvelous Mauve: Your lips but better. It’s still gorgeous and I love having it in my collection.

Sephora Cream Lip Stain whipped blush 08 applicator

The time it takes for them to dry to a matte finish is just right! You get to work with it to make it perfect, without worrying it’ll dry right away, and the applicator is also easy to work with. Then yet again it’s not like you have to wait for a long time before it sets. It’s strange that way.

I can honestly say I love these, and would love to get some more in my collection. The price is just right at $14, which is a lot cheaper than a lot of other liquid lipsticks out there.

If you want lip swatches in the future, make sure to mention it in the comment section! Which shade is your favorite? XO

  • Nail polish for spring

Picking nail polish for spring is all about the pastels! I love pastels, you love pastels, spring loves pastels. As you’ve probably noticed I’ve been fronting a lot of pastel nail polishes lately here on my blog!
    Nail polish for Spring tips
    Nail polish for spring pastels

Above you see left to right: Essie Rock The Boat, Essie Blossom Dandy, Essie Fiji, Essie Urban Jungle, Essie Ballet Slippers, Nails Inc. x Victoria Beckham Bamboo White, Nails Inc. Kensington Palace Gardens and Nails Inc. Chelsea Physic Garden.

My favorites are Essie Urban Jungle, which is a light nude. Nails Inc x VVB Bamboo White is quite similar, only a bit more on the pink side. I truly love both of these, even though they are quite similar.

Essie Fiji is another good one! Fiji requires some work when applying, as it can come across as quite streaky. It’s a baby-pink color. Essie Rock The Boat is a light blue with a bit of shimmer in it, and is great for spring!

The two mini versions from Nails. Inc is a bit on the brighter side, and is shades I reach for one a very sunny spring day. I feel like they are kind of a inbetween for spring and summer; a transition shade to the bright colors that are soon to come! I love pastels though, so I’m not too eager to bring out my bright summer shades quite yet.

Which nail polishes are you rocking this spring? X

  • Essie | Rock The Boat

It’s definitely pastel season, as you can see on my nails today! I love these notd – nail of the day – posts on other blogs, and I also love doing them, so prepare to see more. Also bright pink lips is about to go live on the blog, so we have that to look forward to!

This is Essie’s Rock The Boat. It’s a light blue with a hint of shimmer in it. At first I strongly disliked the shimmer, but it’s very subtle, so it doesn’t bother me. It’s barely noticeable.

I’m wearing three coats here and no top coat. It lasted for a whole five days before it chipped even a little bit on me, so needless to say I’m very pleased, as I usually can’t even make it last for 24 hours.

Also, did you guys see the launch of the lip kit by Kylie glosses? I was actually on the site when it launched, and all the lip glosses were still available. I was staying strong though, and didn’t buy any! I really wanted too, both for the blog and me personally, but I don’t feel like spending a lot of money on products no one has reviewed yet.

I checked when Kylie annonced it on her instagram, and from the moment she posted and until they were all gone were about 8 minutes. Like, for real? EIGHT MINUTES. They have me beginning to think they might not be stocking a big amount, considering they’re all gone within minutes. Which honestly, isn’t making me considering them a serious business.

  • Lancôme Juicy Shaker review

The Lancôme Juicy Shaker is new this season, and is a well anticipated product come spring. What first caught my attention was the innovative packaging. It’s luxurious and elegant, yet fun and young.

Lancome Juicy Shaker review lip gloss

Lancome Juicy Shaker lip gloss reviewTo open you simply unscrew the cap, which then present to us the cushion applicator. At first it might seem like an odd one, but it’s fairly easy to apply. I dare say you might even apply without a mirror, and that’s about as easy as it gets.

If you haven’t heard about the Lancôme Juicy Shaker yet, it’s a lip gloss with a bi phased formula pairing nourishing lip oils with beautiful pigments for plump but natural looking, glossy lips. These nourishing oils contain sweet almond oil, omega 3 and cranberry oil – according to Lancôme’s website! The nourishing lip oils and the pigment tend to separate during the day, so before each use you have to shake it (hence the name, I guess). Depending on how pigmented you want it you can vary your shaking time; the more you shake it, the more pigmented it’ll be.

    lacnome juicy shaker gif

I found that the formula is quite sheer, but it’s buildable to about medium coverage.

What I love about this lip gloss is that it doesn’t feel like a lip gloss at all! I hate that sticky feeling you’re usually left with, but this one doesn’t have that. Your lips are left soft and oily, which I guess causes the shine. Over the course of a few hours your lips will absorb the oil, and you’re left with a stain.

    Lancome Juicy Shaker swatch review

It’s currently 13 permanent shades in the collection, available since March 16th. I’ve only tried one of these yet, which is Mangoes Wild.

In the above pictures I’m wearing Lancôme Juicy Shaker Mangoes Wild. In the first one I’m wearing nothing on my upper lip, so you can properly see the pigmentation for yourself.

    It retails for $21 / £18.

  • What is strobing?

Contouring hit us a few years ago, and it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. With spring coming I’ve been contouring without the contour, in other words I’ve been strobing. Yes, strobing is just a fancy word for what it means when you’re using a highlighter without contouring.

When I first saw the strobing trend I didn’t like it. People were looking oily and greasy, nothing elegant about that. Now on the other hand, I’ve tried it a few times myself and must say I absolutely love it.

    where to highlight guide

You simply apply the highlighter where the sun would normally hit to enhance and bring out your features: the cheekbones, chin, cupid’s bow, bridge of the nose, forehead, browbone as well as the inner corner of your eyes to make them appear brighter and wider.

On my picture above I’ve made a rough draft of where to apply the highlighter, as I for one prefer visualization when possible.

    Mary-Lou manizer swatch

    Mary-Lou manizer

Find a highlighter to suit your skintone to achieve the healthy glow! Don’t use a highlighter that’s heavy on the glitter though, as we want it to be a natural lit-from-within kind of look. I’ve been using the Mary-Lou Manizer, as it looks quite natural and make me achieve the look we’re going for.

    Happy strobing girls!

By the way! I just recently claimed my blog on bloglovin’, and it would mean the world to me if you’d follow me there. You simply click the button below. XX

  • Chanel Entrelacs Eyeshadow Palette

Chanel is famous for their elegant sleek packaging. Usually black with the double C logo on top. We all fall for Chanel’s luxurious packaging, which I confess, is partly why I decided to get this one. The Chanel Entrelacs eyeshadow palette.

Chanel Entrelacs Eyeshadow Palette packaging pearls

    Chanel Entrelacs Eyeshadow Palette packaging

The eyeshadows got the most beautiful pattern. It’s the one that inspired the Chanel logo, and I’ve been so reluctant to make a dent in it. It’s starting to come off a bit, on some of the shades, but you can still see it clearly.

Chanel Entrelacs Eyeshadow Palette swatch pearls

Chanel Entrelacs Eyeshadow Palette swatch swatches

I use #1 as an inner corner highlighter, as well as for the browbone. #2 is a perfect crease color. #3 I use for all over the lid or the outer v. #4 goes on the outer v and/or along the lashline. #5 is very versatile, and I sometimes use it as a highlighter, while other times I use it all over the lid. Sometimes I also use it in the middle of the eyelid over my main color to make my eyes appear wider.

They’re not very pigmented as you can see from the swatches, but they are builable, so I don’t see a problem with it. I am however an eyeshadow-newbie, so for me it’s easier to not mess it up considering the pigmentation. I like it, but for the more experienced user this might not be for you.

  • Nail of the Day: Essie Fiji

Ladies, I welcome you to NOTD: Nail of the Day! Waking up today I was craving pastels on my fingers, so that’s what we went for.

Essie fiji nail polish swatch and bottle Essie fiji nail polish swatch

Essie’s Fiji is a light pink, and even though it seems to be quite transparent after the first coat, I’ll encourage you to keep going, as it takes a couple more to be fully opaque.

It came with one of those itsy-bitsy brushes that takes ages to apply; well for me at least, but I’m the worst at applying nail polish.

I’ll advice you to go with two or three thin layers rather than one thick layer. With three layers you end up with a beautiful opaque light pink color on your nails!

  • MAC Creme Cup Cremesheen + swatch

It’s only fitting that a blog called hellolipstick features lipsticks. To make it easy on myself we’re going to feature one of my favorite lipsticks ever from MAC: Creme Cup!

This is my first lipstick from MAC, and I have to say it’s what got me into lipsticks to begin with. It’s a light blue pink, an accurate description here from the MAC website. It retails for $17.

    MAC creme cup cremesheen opened

Please note that I have a fair and cool-toned complexion. Lipstick with warmer undertones doesn’t look good on me, and as much as I want to I just can’t pull it off. My mistake getting into makeup was always lusting after what other girls had, even though their complexion was completely different than mine. Creme Cup on the other hand is also cool, which is why I finally managed to find a lipstick that worked for me.

    MAC creme cup cremesheen swatch

For me this is the perfect everyday shade, but it might not work for you if you’re more tan than me. I’ve read a few reviews stating that this is the perfect shade for fair blonde gals, and I completely agree. I even purchased this for my sister, who is also fair and blond, as she kept borrowing mine all the time.

MAC Creme Cup accurate swatch on lips

It has a cremesheen finish to it, which basically means it has a high-shine finish to it. It applies evenly and ain’t really a hassle: it’s one of those that you can apply without mirror, and it will still be spot on.

Hopefully you got a better idea on how this lipstick looks in real life! I’ll get better at taking swatch-on-my-lips photos; promise.

  • Nails Inc. Victoria Beckham Judo Red

I’m back to share with you my nails of today. I feel a bit bad for posting this as it’s limited edition, but I just recently saw that it’s available certain places online (Douglas, Sephora, etc), depending on your country. Your local Sephora might also have it in stock.

Nails Inc. has collaborated with Victoria Beckham, and brought us two stunning shades: Judo Red and Bamboo White. The duo can be purchased here.

Nails Inc Judo Red Victoria Becham swatch

Nails Inc Judo Red Victoria Beckham VVB swatch

Judo Red is described as a vibrant tomato shade, and let me tell you, it’s absolutely gorgeous. Nail polish has a tendency to chip on me within 24-hours, but not this badass, no. It leans a bit towards orange depending on the light.

I originally got this because I was getting Bamboo White (which I dreamed about for months before finally caving), but as it was on sale I figured I’d better get them both … And I’m so glad I did! I know it comes with a hefty pricetag, but if you decide to get either of them I promise you won’t be disappointed.
